SALARY: PER SFEA CONTRACT

The K-8 Literacy Coach (TOSA) will have a solid background in professional collaboration, a deep understanding of literacy research-based approaches/programs and is data-driven. They will provide strong instructional guidance and assistance to K-8 classroom teachers and instructional staff in the development and implementation of literacy practices which promote effective instructional practices, increased student achievement and consistency of curricular implementation across K-8.
40% of time will be spent delivering academic intervention services. 60% will be spent on the job duties listed below.
The position is 10 months plus summer dates.
Certification requirements: Appropriate ELA/Literacy Certification
Reports to: Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment & Professional Development
JOB DUTIES:
- Provide support to instructional staff in literacy programs, practices and ELA standards
- Partner with teachers to support their work in setting goals, implementing related best practice, reflection, and revision of goals
- Model research-based instructional approaches and collaborate with teachers to determine those approaches that best meet students’ needs
- Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate ELA standards, curriculum and assessments
- Observe teachers as they implement changes in instructional approaches and provide feedback to the teacher
- Participate in district-wide professional development and collaborative work to support ongoing growth as an instructional coach
- Provide ongoing professional development in district literacy programs, progress monitoring, best practices in differentiation, and reading strategies
- Provide benchmark and other assessment support to teachers through collaborative analysis of student work
- Monitor district data and progress of struggling students
- Work with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment & Professional Development
- to facilitate effective literacy practice and other related duties as directed
